LBL Special: John Siuntres Pt. 1

John Siuntres of Wordballoon fame took some time out of his busy schedule to sit down and talk with me about nearly every topic imaginable!  We covered enough ground to have two episodes of material, and the first part is ready to go!

Show notes would be a ridiculous proposition for this episode due to the fact that we bounced around so many topics, so you can pretty much assume we covered some cool stuff!

I can't thank John enough for being willing to do something like this, and I hope everybody enjoys listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it.

Questions or comments? Shoot us an email.

Check us out on the Itunes store as well (search Longbox Lounge), and feel free to leave us a review!

Thanks again to John, and the second part of the conversation should be ready to go soon!

Cheers,

Christopher

Impossible Expectations?

At this point, one day before I get to see Dark Knight, there is no way that my expectations for this film can be met.

I've read so many glowing reviews that anything less than a perfect film will be unacceptable.  This is the first time in my life that a movie, a niche movie at that, has wiggled its way into the everyday life of just about everybody I know.

I can't have a conversation at work without it coming up.  As the relative expert at my place of business I get asked quite frequently about it.  People who wouldn't touch a comic book with a ten foot pole are as excited for this movie as I am.  This build up, and this anxious feeling in my gut is so invigorating.  I haven't felt this way about any sort of entertainment since the last Harry Potter book came out.

A month ago, I would have predicted a 65 million dollar weekend opening.  Batman Begins opened at about 50 million, so 65 would be a good jump.  At this moment, I'm more apt to believe that this film will open at anywhere from 120 million to as high as 160 million.  This could be the biggest opening weekend of all time.  The hype is infectious.  You can't escape it.  My coworkers are so excited that we spend more time talking about the movie than doing work.  This is incredible.  It's maddening that I have to wait until tomorrow night to see it!

Somewhere along the line, this blog post got off track, but it doesn't matter.  This post illustrates how even something as simple as typing about this movie can send me down a path of awe and excitement.  This feeling I have prior to the movie can in no way be satisfied.  It's impossible.  I will be disappointed because anything less than perfection is going to be a let down.

I have 38 hours left.  I will be disappointed........but I don't care.  The hype has been a brilliant experience in and of itself. I want to see the film so I can end my anxiousness, but at the same time I want the excitement to continue, because it's so damn fun.

Jamal is a super nice guy, and Jim Calafiore is as well.  I've never met McKone, but I imagine he keeps with the trend set by Jamal and Jim.
